Oxford United goalkeeper Ryan Clarke has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month for January.

Clarke posted an unblemished record during January with clean sheets in each of his side's four games.

He organised his defence superbly and pulled off a number of saves, none better than an acrobatic stop which earned a point at Exeter City.

Sky Sports' Football League pundit Don Goodman said: "Ryan's shot-stopping and command of his defence made January a month to remember for the U's keeper.

"It couldn't have gone any better for the goalkeeper than four clean sheets from four Sky Bet League 2 games. Ryan fully deserves this award."

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: "The Oxford stopper has been in excellent form and went the month without conceding a league goal.

"The U's defence will certainly need Clarke behind them if they are going to keep up a push for promotion to Sky Bet League 1."
