York City boss Nigel Worthington has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for March.

His patient approach paid off in spectacular style as his side gained 19 points from a possible 21.

Worthington has made York hard to break down. In seven games, they conceded just one goal.

Dave Bassett, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: "It's been a fantastic month for Nigel Worthington.

"This is a just reward for a very well organised team, which has gone seven matches undefeated."

Sky Sports' Football League pundit Don Goodman said: "York's unbeaten month was underlined by the solid base that Nigel has given the team.

"Six clean sheets in seven games is a record that any club at any level would be thrilled with and the momentum is with York to march into the Play-Off positions, if they can keep it going in April."

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: "March has put the Minstermen within touching distance of the Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off positions.

"Nigel Worthington is really proving his worth at Bootham Crescent."
