Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates admits a trip to promotion-hopefuls Bury is a tricky start to his side's Sky Bet League 2 campaign.

The Shakers have added the likes of Shwan Jalal, Ryan Lowe and Nicky Adams to their squad as they build for a return to Sky Bet League 1 and that test for the Robins will be followed by a Capital One Cup tie with Brighton and their new boss Sami Hyypia.

"It's a tough start but one we are looking forward to," Yates told the club's official website.

"Bury will be a team spending money and recruiting to win promotion so it is a really tough start. Gigg Lane is a really nice pitch and I am sure David Flitcroft will have them playing good football.

"I'm massively excited about the Brighton game. They have a new manager and they have played a good possession game over the last few years. I've seen quotes from the manager that he wants more penetration and end product so it'll be a good test for us."

Meanwhile Yates confirmed that the club are in negotiations with potential signings and he hopes to have " three or four more over the line" at the start of next week.
