James Poole has chosen not to renew his contract and will leave Hartlepool after three years.

The 24-year-old forward became a big part of the Pools side after he joined initially on loan from Manchester City in 2010, before making the move permanent.

Poole made 113 appearances and scored 16 often spectacular goals but feels it is the right time for him to move on.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It just feels like the right time to move and try something new, but I'll take with me some good memories of Hartlepool United.

"I've enjoyed my time here; the fans have been brilliant with me and the team through some difficult times, and it's been a pleasure to play in front of them both home and away.

"I've made some great friends at the club so I'll continue to look out for the results and wish them all the best for the future, which I'm sure has a very good chance of being a bright one."
