Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers will be represented at Wembley on Sunday as the teams line-up for the League 1 Final of The Football League's Community Cup. The match will take place on the pitch prior to the Coca-Cola League 1 Play-Off Final between Millwall and Scunthopre United.
The Community Cup is a national six-a-side competition for children under the age of 11, organised by The Football League Trust and club community departments. This year's competition attracted entries from more than 2,000 schools from across the country, with around 16,000 players taking part. Each club's community department hosts a local competition to produce a winning school to go forward to represent them their respective regional final.
Having progressed through the qualifying rounds, this year's Final sees Grange Junior School, representing Swindon Town, take on St. Winefride's Catholic Primary School, representing Tranmere Rovers. The Swindon Town team seccured their place at Wembley by beating Yeovil Town 1-0 in the Southern Regional Final, after the two teams have fought off competition from sides representing Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leyton Orient, Bristol Rovers and Milton Keynes Dons. The Tranmere Rovers team were crowned Northern Regional Champions having beaten Crewe Alexandra 1-0 in the regional final. En route to the Final Rovers also saw off competition from teams representing Huddersfield Town, Walsall, Carlisle United, Scunthorpe United and Hereford Town.
