The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has become the latest high-profile figure to support The Football League's 'Enjoy the Match' campaign by recording a video message designed to discourage swearing and abusive behaviour in family areas of grounds.
Now in its second season, the Enjoy the Match campaign promotes a family-friendly atmosphere at games with the aim of encouraging more young fans through the turnstiles at Football League grounds.
And Mr Johnson took time out to add his name to list of celebrities, which include rock band Kasabian and former football legends Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, and call on fans to make an effort not to swear.
"It's vital that football remains a family friendly game," said the former Conservative MP for Henley, who has held the office of Mayor of London since May 2008.
"No matter how hacked off you may feel conceding a late goal, please keep your temper and good manners - and Enjoy the Match!"
All 72 Football League clubs have this season given their full backing to the campaign, which has its own YouTube channel showcasing the other celebrity endorsements as well as the Enjoy the Match promotional adverts which includes a performance from Justin Moorhouse, star of Phoenix Nights.
The campaign is proving a hit with Football League fans with almost 10,000 showing their support via the online supporter's pledge.
