The money will be used to develop the Kickz aim to build safer, stronger communities through the coaching and development of young people.

Eleven Football League clubs are involved with Kickz projects which children aged from 12 to 18.

The activities include dance, boxing, basketball, art and music workshops - as well as plenty of football!

The Kickz Coaching Cage was unveiled at the Cobholm Estate in Great Yarmouth - with the help of first team player Lee Croft.

Croft said: "The Kickz project is a really good idea.

"When I grew up we had a soccer school on a Saturday morning which we used to go to, but there was nothing on the coaching side.

"Now the idea is to get kids off the streets and playing in supervised matches and activities with expert staff from our club."

Football League Trust Regional Manager Mike Evans said: "Most schemes deliver Kickz in a locality close to their stadium.

"Norwich City put together a very compelling case for delivering Kickz in Great Yarmouth where the need was greater.

"The Football League Trust worked with the Community team at Norwich City to push this case and we are delighted that the Football Foundation chose to award funding.

"We are all looking forward to successful delivery in the coming years."

Norwich City Community Director Ian Thornton said: "Kickz has been shown to significantly reduce crime and anti-social behaviour across the country.

"We are really pleased to be able to accept the donation and look forward to making a positive impact on youngsters around here."
