Eighteen Coca-Cola Championship clubs have joined forces with The Football League and MDS Telecom Group to offer a fully branded Home Phone and Broadband service to their fans. The service is called 'Fan-tastic Telecom' and it offers supporters cheap telephone calls and broadband - as well as free calls to any other Fan-tastic Customer. But perhaps the biggest benefit to the clubs is the fact that a proportion of the revenue goes to their Youth Academy or Centre of Excellence.
Darren Thomas, Managing Director of Fan-tastic Telecom and Chief Executive of MDS Telecom said "Fans have a real affinity with their club - there's a relationship there that is quite unique. Clubs are looking to diversify as football becomes big business. Many clubs offer credit cards to their fans - now they can offer a phone service! But it's not just the die-hard supporters that will benefit: the offer is open to anyone and they will save money compared to BT's standard line rental and call charges. This service will offer customers a seamless service - even allowing them to keep their phone number and to start making savings straight away".
Football League Business Development Manager, Tony Hurst said: "We are pleased to welcome MDS Telecom into The Football League commercial programme. In what is a very competitive market, both MDS Telecom and The Football League have agreed an exciting new partnership that will be of great benefit to 18 Championship Clubs and their fans".
