Most players take time away from the game when they retire. Len Bond was out of football - for two days!
Just 48 hours after hanging up his gloves at Yeovil Town in 1989, Bond joined the coaching staff at Exeter after a call from World Cup winner Alan Ball, who was manager at the time.
Bond is currently coaching the keepers at Huish Park after a career that included time between the sticks at Bristol City, Brentford and Exeter City.
Bond then moved to the United States for a spell before returning to these shores back at Bristol City.
He left Ashton Gate to return to Exeter, then went on to Torquay before ending up back at Yeovil!
He said: "There's no hard and fast rule when it comes to improving on raw talent - just plenty of work on the training pitch and some words of encouragement.
"I still go into the club every day at 9.30am and work with the goalkeepers until 12.30pm. We start at about 10.30am and begin with warm-ups followed by a training session.
"What makes a good goalkeeper is confidence. They always have the ability to stop shots, but you have to work on spotting crosses and improving their confidence.
Goalkeepers can become instant heroes if they save a penalty.
But Bond never works his goalkeepers too hard on spot-kicks.
He added: "We tell them certain things, like to stand up for as long as possible, and remain as tall as they can. But it all comes down to the goalkeeper's decision-making."
When he finishes his shift with the Yeovil keepers, Bond makes the 25-mile trip to his home in Taunton where he runs an internet sportswear business. He says juggling his two careers allows him to keep his passion for football alive.
Bond added: "I have been running Len Bond Teamwear for about 16 years.
We sell training equipment for football and rugby clubs.
"The nice thing is I can leave the coaching behind and go into another life. I am able to switch off and run my own business and focus on that.
"I can then return to the club with a fresh outlook because I'm not spending my whole life on the training pitch."
