Coventry City Football Club and the Ricoh Arena have announced a £25,000 project to redevelop a family area, cementing the club's reputation as being one of the most family friendly clubs in the country.

The Junior Sky Blues (JSB) Family Zone, dedicated to Coventry City's youngest fans and their families, will be created in the corner of the Telegraph and Telent Stand behind blocks 32 -35.

The refurbished area of the ground will give youngsters a place to enjoy entertainment in the build up to kick-off on match days, including face-painting and the chance to meet Sky Blue Sam and academy players.

Activities and competitions will be held before each game with exclusive club prizes on offer including the chance to become a match-day mascot, opportunities to meet City's first team as well as club shop vouchers and signed merchandise.

A CCFC Britannia Tyres Superstore kiosk will allow families to buy club merchandise, while food and drink will also be on sale within the zone.

Nathan Kosky, commercial director for CCFC, said creating the Family Zone is further evidence of the club's commitment to its youngest members - on the back of City winning a Football League Family Excellence Award for 2008/09.

"The club is delighted to announce the launch of the Family Zone project which will give JSB members and their families a great new area to take advantage of next season," he said.

"I am sure our young fans and their families will welcome this new initiative and look forward to taking advantage of the entertainment which has been lined-up for each match day.

Liz Cooper, marketing director for the Ricoh Arena and Coventry City, said: "The club has always been committed to providing an enjoyable match day experience for our young fans at the Ricoh Arena, and providing a dedicated area will only enhance the enjoyment for current and prospective JSB members.

"The project also underlines the club's further support for The Football League's Fans of the Future and Enjoy the Match campaigns, which are both aimed at encouraging even more families to attend matches at their local club", added Liz.

JSB memberships for the 09/10 season are available now for just £15 a season. Benefits include highly discounted season tickets, with children under seven on August 31 2009 going absolutely FREE.
