Lottery winner Karen Child is pumping £20,000 into Chesterfield.

So she will not have any trouble getting a space in the Kop - after sponsoring the entire stand!

The former Tesco checkout worker scooped more than £8million with her winning ticket in February 2007.

The Coca-Cola League 2 club were on the look out for a new sponsor for the Saltergate Kop when Karen stepped forward to answer their prayers.

Now she is planning to divide her time between watching the Spireites and Manchester United, after splashing out on a box at Old Trafford as well.

The Kop will now be known as the Karen Child Kop. She said: "I'm delighted to be in a position to help the club.

"They haven't had much success in recent years and finances have been tight, so this is my way of helping them out because I can afford it.

"It will be strange seeing the Saltergate Kop named after me.

"I support Chesterfield as well as Manchester United so I'll go to both grounds as much as I can.

"Chesterfield are a real asset to the town irrespective of which division they are in, and I'm glad to get this opportunity to support them in this way."

Chairman Barrie Hubbard said: "This is a very generous gesture and one which the club is very appreciative of.

"We thank Karen for providing such an excellent backing at a time when the club is on the threshold of fulfilling exciting plans for the future."
