ROYALS BOOK WEMBLEY DATE WITH SWANS

Reading booked their trip to Wembley for the npower Championship Play-Off final with what turned out to be a comfortable 3-0 win over Cardiff City in the second leg at the Cardiff City Stadium. Shane Long netted an impressive first half brace and Jobi McAnuff struck late on to take the Royals record away from home to eight games without defeat at the end of the season.

From the moment Long lobbed the ball into an empty net to open the scoring after 28 minutes the visitors never looked back. Former Cork City front man Long was struck by Stephen Bywater's clearance and he lobbed the ball home from outside the box to break the deadlock in the tie.

Shortly before the break, Bluebirds defender Dekel Keinan pulled back Royals skipper Matt Mills to concede a penalty and Long sent Bywater the wrong way from the spot for his 25th goal of the season.

Reading came close to a third in the second half when Noel Hunt hit the post from close range and former Bluebird McAnuff wrapped the game up after a jinxing run and finish with six minutes to go to kick-off the Royals celebrations.

They will now meet Swansea City at Wembley on Monday 30th May for the right to play in the Premier League next season.

SWANS REACH WEMBLEY

Swansea City will be playing in the npower Championship Play-Off final after beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium.

The tie was goalless after the first leg and both sides flew out of the traps, looking to gain that all-important initiative.

It was the home side who broke the deadlock on 28 minutes, when Leon Britton scored only his second, since resigning from Sheffield United in January.

Just five minutes later the home side doubled their lead through Stephen Dobbie, who enjoyed Play-Off success on loan at Blackpool last season.

Nottingham Forest threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at the Swans defence, but when they and goalkeeper Dorus De Vries were beaten the woodwork came to their rescue three times.

Billy Davies' side did manage to pull a goal back on 80 minutes when Robert Earnshaw netted, just two minutes and four seconds after coming on as a substitute.

As the visitors went in desperate search of the equaliser Darren Pratley wrapped up the win in injury time, as he scored from his own half.

With Lee Camp up for a corner Forest lost the ball on the edge of the box and Pratley capitalised, racing clear before firing into an empty net, from the halfway line.

The Swans will now wait to see who they will face at Wembley on May 30th.

STILL NO GOALS

We're still waiting for our first goals in this season's npower Football League Play-Offs after Reading and Cardiff City played out the second goalless draw so far.

Cardiff were forced into an early change at the Madejski Stadium when Craig Bellamy was forced off through injury but his replacement Michael Chopra couldn't find a break through either.

Chances were few and far between for both sides with the home side restricted to just two shots on target while Cardiff had just four.

It's now all or nothing at the Cardiff City Stadium next Tuesday when the sides go head to head in the semi-final second leg.

ALL SQUARE

Nottingham Forest failed to make home advantage pay in their npower Championship Play-Off first leg, despite Swansea City being reduced to 10 men after just 52 seconds.

Neil Taylor was the man sent off after a high tackle on Lewis McGugan, which gave Referee Mike Dean no option.

There were plenty of chances at both ends but Lee Camp in the Forest goal and Dorus De Vries for the Swans were in impressive form.

The tie will be decided on Monday at the Liberty Stadium and Billy Davies' side will face the tough task of beating the side with the best home record in the Championship.
